More about Odd Johan Fritzøe

Odd Johan Fritzøe was educated at The National Academy of Ballet 1984-87 and studied African dance and culture with Rose Marie Guiraud in Abidjan, The Ivory Coast. Fritzøe made his debut as a dancer at Black Box in 1986, in the dance production Det handler om mennesker* (It is about humans), and further worked with Verdensteatret in Zanzibar 1988, and then with Collage Dansekompani until 1995. He made his debut as a choreographer in 1992 with A Dog Day's Night during the Men Dance festival and has later choreographed and danced in his own ballets in Norway and abroad. His public performances have reached the level of approximately 1200 performances.

For the world premiere of Adventura botanica at Dansens Hus in 2013, NOTAM described the production as "an innovative and forward-looking production liberating the art of dance from the limiting spaces of the theatre, bringing its illusion-constructing functions out into society."

Fritzøe initiated and worked on establishing CODA International Dance Festival from 2001 to 2012.
