Residents - A Construction Kit
Residents - A Construction Kit (2002, at times also referred to as The Builders) was a dance production by Odd Johan Fritzøe. It had its world premiere at Black Box Teater during Ultima Oslo Contemporary Music Festival 2002.
Odd Johan Fritzøe choreographed it.
Residents - A Construction Kit was performed a total of 265 times within the counties of Hedmark, Buskerud, Oslo, Akershus, Sogn og Fjordane, Sør-Trøndelag, Nord-Trøndelag and Oppland, plus in Falun, Sweden, and Reykjavik, Iceland. The production was revived in 2014, for a tour with Dans i Nord-Trøndelag, in the county of Nord-Trøndelag. A complete list of performances can be found at Odd Johan Fritzøe's webpage.
In The Builders by Odd Johan Fritzøe, two dancers travelled a world filled with strange and unknown characters and sounds. Many fairytales deal with leaving home and travelling into the unknown. The performance played with letters and movement. Letters shaped words and rhyme. Movement became rhythm and dance.

The Residents - A Construction Kit by Odd Johan Fritzøe was created as an open performance in which the spectators had to take part through using their own imagination. What happened could be different, depending on one's location in the room. Many different stories could be formed.
They were building up, down and around. The performance was all about a changing world. Did you see the house and the foot wanting to travel by itself? The residents were looking for one missing brick belonging to the castle. Without this brick, the entire world would fall apart.
The Residents - A Construction Kit was an abstract production, most appropriate for children aged six years or more.
The Residents - A Construction Kit by Odd Johan Fritzøe was supported by The Norwegian Culture Fund, The Audio Visual Fund, The Norwegian Visual Artists' Association, The Cultural Rucksack via The National Touring Network for Performing Arts and Hedmark Touring Organization (ToH).
