Opera Sør
The foundation Opera Sør was established in 1997, with Agder Theatre, Kristiansand Symphony Orchestra, the opera friend association Operaens Venner, the chamber and orchestra choir Kristiansand Kammer- og Operakor, the municipality of Kristiansand and the counties of Vest-Agder and Aust-Agder as the founders.
Opera Sør's activity consists of producing its own opera productions, coproduce opera productions with others, produce opera/operetta concerts and convey visiting performances of opera and ballet.
Opera Sør is now based in Kristiansand's culture centre Kilden.
Opera Sør means, in direct translation, Opera South. The name refers to its location in the southernmost region of Norway.
