King Lear
King Lear is a play by William Shakespeare. A quarto version called The History of King Lear was probably written in the period 1604-1606. It was published in 1608, and is substansially different from the version called The Tragedy of King Lear, published in the Folio edition of 1623. It is supposed that Shakespeare revised the play himself.
It has been translated into the Norwegian in at least four different versions, by Gunnar Reiss-Andersen (1924), Peder W. Cappelen (1978), Edvard Hoem (1981, New Norwegian) and Arthur O. Sandved (1995).
