Cinderella

Cinderella is a fairytale in multiple versions.

Cinderella is about the warm-hearted stepdaughter who is badly treated by her stepmother and her two daughters, but who ends up finding happiness with the attractive, kind prince.

The eldest versions of the fairytale are from Chinese literature stemming from the ninth century. In Europe approximately 500 versions of it have been written down, with names such as Askepot (Denmark), Askepott (Norway), Cendrillon (France), La Cenerentola (Italy), Cinderella (UK) and Aschenputtel (Germany). She has been described by Charles Perrault (in Contes de ma mère l'Oye, 1697) and the Brothers Grimm (1812), among others.
