At the webpage of Cirkus Xanti the following, among other things, is written about The Ring:

"Through circus, rock, theatre and dance The Ring by Cirkus Xanti tells the story about the beautiful elf prince Volund, who can create whatever he likes with his magic abilities. He forges an invincible sword and a troll ring of gold, one that gives birth to eight gold rings every ninth day. Next Volund meets the love of his life, Bodvil. But happiness doesn’t last. The evil king Nidad steals the gold, takes Volund hostage and makes him slave for life. But Volund won’t give in, and he starts the seemingly impossible mission to re-establish his lost honour.

The Ring was based on the ballad Volundkvadet from the elder Edda, and parallels can be drawn to Wagner’s Niebelungen Ring as well as J.R.R. Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings."
