At the website of The Norwegian Touring Theatre, the following, among other things, is written about Pillars of Society:

"Everybody admires the exemplary family father Consul Bernick, who creates jobs and is responsible for growth in the town. Little do they know that the visionary pillar of society has built his career and his marriage on a lie. When the truth about the past forces its way forward, he needs to find a way to save his reputation. But is he a repentant sinner, or is he yet again playing to the gallery?"
