Teater Manu and Franzisca Aarflot Productions gave the following information about 4:48 Psychosis:
The production 4:48 Psychosis by Franzisca Aarflot is a project examining the options within an expression in which sign language and speech is equal, and where projected text and physical expression is integrated fully with the two languages to form a unified aesthetic.
The watch on the nightstand displays 4:48. Everybody else is asleep. In the text 4:48 Psychosis by Sarah Kane we join the nightly psychosis - a voyage through memories from stays in psychiatric institutions, lost love, writer’s block, the search for meaning and direction - all felt by the same split self.
Sarah Kane's text, which was written shortly before the playwright killed herself, is already a modern classic. The play doesn't just tell the story about a tormented mind, but reflects moods and thoughts most people at one time or another will be able to recognise.

Ida Lou Larsen, Klassekampen, March 7 2011:
"Franzisca Aarflot has chosen a very special division of roles: Idun Losnegård performs the text while Ipek D. Mehlum interprets it in sign language. The productions of the sign language theatre Manu always addresses the not hearing as well as the hearing, but until now the actors have used sign language as the performing language, while a speaking actor has 'interpreted' the text without taking part in what plays out onstage. Not so this time. Idun Losnegård and Ipek D. Mehlum are as strongly physically present, and in many ways their different stage expressions complete each other. In addition Franzisca Aarflot has chosen to project parts of the text on the backdrop wall. It is an interesting solution and it has become a coherent performance in which body language and mimics are precise, controlled and alive."
