Stigespillerne was established in 1995 by Lars Voss Sørhus and Margareth Hosøy. Stigespillerne has been based on staging theatre written and produced by members of the company, in productions stretching from performance and street theatre to the main focus theatre for children.

Stigespillerne is a theatre group which has existed since 1995. In the period the company has produced a series of productions including performances for children, street theatre and performances for adults. The members' competence area covers most theatrical fields and the members switch functions due to the needs in each production.
Stigespillerne hires other actors when there is a need for it. In addition to theatre written by its members, Stigespillerne has staged plays by Thorbjørn Egner and Gunilla Bergström for children and Harold Pinter among others for adults. Stigespillerne also manages courses and instructor services.
"The venues in which the plays have been staged have ranged from malls and culture centres to the Proscenium Scene in Logen Theatre in Bergen."
