Melancholy
Melancholy is a novel by Jon Fosse, translated into the English by Grethe Kvernes and Damion Searls. The original title in Norwegian was Melancholia and the novel was published in two volumes, in 1995 and 1996 respectively. It is based on the life of the painter Lars Hertervig.
Melancholia had its world premiere as theatre in 2002 and as an opera in 2008.
