Iben Sandemose
Iben Sandemose (born July 13 1950) is a Norwegian writer of books for children and a visual artist. With humorous and surreal drawings she has published a number of original picture books, including her debut Vingemus og kattejammer (literally: Mice with wings and katzenjammer) (1987), Vil du være kjæresten min (literally: Do you want to be my beloved) (1990), Ringeren & Notre Madame (literally: The Hunchback of Notre Madame) (1994) and the series about Gracie & Grandma.
Sombre undercurrents can be noticed in several of the books by Iben Sandemose, not least in Angel Fur from 1995, a book with mourning as its theme. Ugler i Sandemosen (literally: Owls in the Sande Moss, a wordplay on the family name and a Norwegian idiom referring to something suspicious) (1999) is a biography over her paternal grandfather, Aksel Sandemose. Lykkens frakk (literally: The Coat of Happiness) (2006) is a poetry collection.

She has received several awards for her work, including Bokkunstprisen 2008 (literally: The Book Art Award) and Teskjekjerringprisen for 2011 (an award named after one of Alf Prøysen's well-known characters, a woman the size of a tea spoon).
Iben Sandemose won The Hedda Award 1999 in best visual design category for her stage design for Angel Fur, produced by Totalteatret in 1999 and based on her own book.
