Hovedscenen i Folketeaterbygningen

Folketeatret (currently spelled with an e, as in Folketeateret) is a theatre venue in Folketeaterpassasjen, between the street Storgata and the square Youngstorget in Oslo.

The building was completed in 1935, and first housed a cinema from 1935 to 1952, next the private theatre Folketeatret (which was fused with Det Nye Teater in 1959 to become Oslo Nye Teater (Oslo New Theatre)) from 1952 to 1959, and then The Norwegian National Opera from 1959 to 2007. From time to time Oslo Nye Teater (Oslo New Theatre) also used the building for performances after the opera had been established and had moved in.

A major renovation took place before Folketeateret again became a private theatre in 2009.

This Sceneweb entry only shows The Norwegian National Opera's list of performances at the theatre.
