Fantus
Fantus was Fantorangen’s "younger sibling" and appeared for the first time in the television programme Minibarna ("Mini-children") in 2019. In the first episode shown in 2021, it was revealed that Fantorangen and Pivi found Fantus in an egg outside the door of their cave/home.
Fantus featured in its own programmes for the youngest children (1-2 years), for example Fantus og maskinene ("Fantus and the machines"; 2021) and Fantus og dyra ("Fantus and the animals"). There are also books for young children about Fantus. The series followed the adventures of a group of small children. In parts of the programmes, Fantus is shown as a younger version of Fantorangen. Long takes and a slow pace were characteristic of the series, as were strong colours, chosen to appeal to the youngest children.
Endre Skandfer and later Stig Saxegaard, both from the company Qvisten Animasjon, were responsible for the creation of Fantus, in collaboration with Christina Espedal from NRK. For later productions, the graphic designer was Rune Røsting. Knut Næsheim directed the productions and was producer for NRK. The first season was aired in 2019 and three further seasons were produced up to and including 2022.

Fantus was made of knitted woollen yarn and had a dummy and a nappy. The puppet’s head was large, as were the eyes and ears. The inside of the ears, the area around the eyes and the chest were lighter in colour than the rest of the puppet.
The above description is based on photographs.
Fantus was a muppet with a large, movable mouth, and also had a rod attached to each hand so that they could be controlled. The performer therefore controlled the puppet’s mouth with one hand and, and the arms with the other hand. We are informed that Fantus’s eyes could also be moved, which would involve the performer using his/her fingers in a special construction.
The above description is based on photographs.
The television series has won several prizes in the Norwegian television awards Gullruten: Gullruten 2020 in the category best graphic design/VFX, Gullruten 2021 in the category best programme for children and young people, and Gullruten 2022 in the category best programme for children and young people, single camera, entertainment.
The programmes were popular both in Norway and abroad.
