Fantus
Fantus is a sibling of the puppet Fantorangen and appeared for the first time in the television programme "Fantorangens verden" ("Fantorangen’s world") in 2019. Fantus is 1.5 to 2 years old, has undefined gender, is positive and inquisitive, and can speak a few words. Children of the same age can identify with Fantus and with its sibling relationship with Fantorangen.
As a physical puppet, Fantus appears in "Fantorangen’s verden". As a 3D animated figure, Fantus is the main character in several series, for example "Minibarna" ("Mini-children"), "Fantus og maskinene" ("Fantus and the machines") and "Fantus musikantus". In these series, the animated version of Fantus appears together with real-life children, animals and machines. These series have won a number of prizes and have been sold to several countries.

Fantus has a large head and large eyes and ears. Its head and body are made of pieces of foam. The puppet is mainly purple in colour, but the inside of the ears, the area around the eyes and the chest are lighter in colour. The arms are thin, with three fingers on each hand, while the legs have hooves. A control rod is attached to each of the hands. The legs hang freely and move with the puppet. The puppet’s surface material is woollen felt. Fantus has a dummy and a nappy.
Fantus is a muppet with a large, movable mouth, and also has control rods attached to its hands. The puppet has an openings under the body and in the neck, to allow for varied performing options for television production. The performer’s other hand can control the arms with the rods fixed to the puppet’s hands. If there are two performers, the legs can also be moved with rods fastened to the puppet’s feet. Inside the head there is a button that allows the eyelids to be opened and shut.
In 2024, Fantus moved to the puppetry stage in the play «Fantorangen på teater» ("Fantorangen at the Theatre"), written in collaboration with Oslo Nye Teater. The piece was performed at Oslo Nye Trikkestallen and on tour with The Norwegian Touring Theatre. Two sets of theatre puppets of Fantorangen, Fantus, Pivi and Maurora were made for this production. The puppets were created by Anna Granberg and Anna Marie Heinsdatter (The Norwegian Touring Theatre) and consultant Christina Espedal (NRK).
The television episodes featuring Fantus have been translated into the Northern Sami, Southern Sami and Lule Sami languages.
