Teodor
From the production "Så rart" ("How strange), produced by NRK
Teodor the teddy bear is a glove puppet that was created for NRK in connection with the series "Så rart" ("How strange"). He was a curious and sensitive character who expressed himself on a level with a 3- to 4-year-old child.
Teodor was shown for the first time in "Så rart" on NRK children’s television in 1974, in conversation with programme host Uncle Lauritz. He later appeared in several other productions.

Teaterfigur
Teaterfigurer, bedre kjent som teaterdukker, har spilt på norske scener i generasjoner, til stor glede for publikum i alle aldersgrupper.
Teodor was designed and made by Mona Wiig.
Birgit Strøm was the performer in all programmes, and also provided Teodor’s voice.
Teodor appeared in "Så rart" (1974-1981) with programme host "Uncle" Lauritz Johnson; "Teodors julekalender" ("Teodor’s Advent Calendar"; 1986 og 1991) and "Kveldsstund med Teodor" ("Evening time with Teodor"; 1993-1995) – both of the latter programmes with Eli Rygg as programme host; "Teodors påske" ("Teodor’s Easter"; 1996) and "Før julen ringer inn" ("Before the Christmas bells ring"; 1996).
All the series featuring Teodor were developed in collaboration with those who appeared in the programmes. Grete Høien was the director and Birgit Strøm wrote the scripts and was the performer for Teodor.
Teodor appeared in many programmes, which were very popular - thanks to Birgit Strøm’s ability to bring the puppet to life with great imagination and enthusiasm. Teodor could speak with anyone, whether they were ordinary people or important personalities. He had conversations with many well-known guests in the programmes, including Queen Sonja and Norway’s first female bishop, Rosemarie Köhn. Teodor was good at asking questions about everyday matters that everyone could relate to.
In an interview in the specialist puppetry publication Ånd i hanske, Birgit Strøm said that she enjoyed the form in which a puppet communicates with people. "Something magic comes into a realistic world, in a situation that would under other circumstances be quite unremarkable ... In television productions you are almost always performing in close-up and movements have to be tiny. On stage there always has to be continuity, but on television we can create a transition with a cut or a different camera angle."
The puppet Teodor exists in different versions: a glove puppet for performance and a larger puppet for other situations.
