The head of Aladdin was shaped from Styrofoam and fortified with newspaper and glue. The face was painted, and eyes and pupils marked in black. The nose was narrow and the smile crooked. The hair was black and coarse, and most of it was covered by a red cap.
Aladdin was the son of a poor tailor, and he was clad in a simple, long-sleeved jacket made from a cotton fabric. His pants were wide, brown and with stripes.
Beneath the costume, the puppet had shoulders the arms were fastened to. To each hand, a steering rod was fastened.

Aladdin was a rod puppet with a round rod fastened to its head. The round rod was prolonged to the puppet's chest area. The puppeteer held onto this round rod to steer the puppet. Rods or piano threads were fastened to each of the puppet's hands, so that the arms could be moved.
