"Close to 100 years have passed since Sigrid Undset published the historical novel cycle about Kristin Lavransdatter. In her choices in life, Kristin is driven by curiosity and desire - forces in continual conflict with norms and morals. Rarely has a person's physical and mental pain been described as raw. There are descriptions that with murder and rape, illness and love, doubt and faith, show the complexities and the contrasts in a human life.
It is about the medieval woman Kristin Lavransdatter and her life from her upbringing in the valley Gudbrandsdalen, until she dies in the Rein nunnery near Trondheim. It is about the stormy, problematic love for Erlend, her struggles as a mother, her turbulent relationship to her own family and strong faith
Sigrid Undset is considered among the foremost Norwegian writers throughout the ages. For the trilogy about Kristin Lavransdatter and the novels about Olav Audunssøn, she was granted The Nobel Prize in literature in 1928.
The first volume of the trilogy, The Wreath, has been adapted for the occasion by Kristian Lykkeslet Strømskag and Kjersti Horn."
