Hedda-Go-Lucky

Hedda-Go-Lucky is a new circus production by Cirkus Kha Oom, produced in 2006 and inspired by Hedda Gabler by Henrik Ibsen.

Hedda-Go-Lucky begins where the play Hedda Gabler by Ibsen ends: With careful use of scalpel the ensemble of Cirkus Kha Oom enters Hedda’s brain in the exact moment the bullet detaches from the magazine. An intense inner world is visualised, and the production follows Hedda in her turbulent meeting with herself and her inner powers. For Hedda, this is a journey with only one outcome.

Hedda-Go-Lucky by Cirkus Kha Oom was made for the Ibsen Year 2006.

The production can be described as rock theatre springing out of Hedda Tesman's (née Gabler) moment of death - a moment stretching into a 75 minute long performance. In collaboration with playwright Turid Svensøy the suicide theme of the performance has been anchored in our contemporary time. Without moralising Cirkus Kha Oom wants to show a world which is everything but attractive.

Hedda-Go-Lucky was part of The International Ibsen Festival's fringe program.

Hedda-Go-Lucky was produced in collaboration with the Culture Church Kulturkirken Jakob and The Open Theatre (Det Åpne Teater), with support from Arts Council Norway, The Ibsen Year 2006, the Freedom of Expression Foundation Fritt Ord and The Fund for Performing Artists.
