At the website of The Norwegian Theatre the following, among other things, is written about Rough:
"Bjørn Sundquist renews the Beckett tradition of The Norwegian Theatre. In recent years, he has staged Waiting for Godot and Krapp's Last Tape, and he now continues with some of Beckett's shorter dramatic works at Scene 2.
This is how he presents the four short plays; Breath is a presentation of life, Rough for Theatre I is a situation from life, Rough for Theatre II is the end of life and That Time is the moment of death - in which three voices sum up the life of the protagonist in poetic, humorous and deeply tragic turns of phrase.
(...)
Beckett's drama has permeated the walls of The Norwegian Theatre. Since the first production of Waiting for Godot in 1970, staged by Bjørn Endresson and the eventually legendary Beckett band of the theatre, more than 35 000 have visited the theatre's 17 different Beckett productions.
The Irish writer and playwright Samuel Beckett (1906-1989) is one of the literary giants of the 20 th century. He was awarded The Nobel Prize in Literature in 1969, and his bibliography contains several modern stage classics, plus poetry, short stories, novels, audio plays, TV dramas and translations. He settled in France in 1937, and in all of his literary production he kept moving between writing in English and writing in French."
