Brand (2016) was a theatre production by Ibsen Theatre, based on the play by Henrik Ibsen. The production was performed in churches, and opened in the church of Skien.
Ida Høy directs it.
Thomas Bye interprets the title role.
The organ player Kåre Nordstoga will set music to the performance.
The production of Brand will be revived in 2018, also then with its opening night in the church of Skien.

"This year, 150 years have gone by since Henrik Ibsen published Brand. The story of the young priest has provoked and made the audiences wonder for as long a time. Should we understand Brand as an idealist, or as a fundamentalist? Is he blinded by his faith, or is he to show us to the right path? And why did Ibsen claim that 'Brand is me at my best times', when Brand's actions cause so much suffering?
Brand is one of Henrik Ibsen's very greatest dramas, in both meanings of the term. The play is as grand-scale as Peer Gynt, as ground-breaking as A Doll's House, as disturbing as Little Eyolf, and as heart-breaking as The Wild Duck. But there is no Ibsen drama as monumental, strikingly ruthless, and interpreted in as many different ways.
In Ibsen Theatre's production, we move the drama's faith, doubt and force into the church. We let Brand the priest work as a priest, for real. The performances will take place exclusively in churches, and one of the very best organ players in Europe, Kåre Nordstoga, sets music to the performance."
