Zapffe
Zapffe (2016) is a monologue theatre production by The Arctic Theatre. The text for the production was written by Lennart Lidström with material from Peter Wessel Zapffe's life and texts. The world premiere takes place in Harstad during The Arts Festival of North Norway 2016. The autumn of 2016 the production goes on tour, before it is performed at The Arctic Theatre in Tromsø.
Lennart Lidström directs it.
Kristian Fr. Figenschow performs it.

"Director and playwright Lennart Lidström, the man behind Oluf and Den fordømte nordlendingen* (The Damn Northerner), among other things, is reunited with Kristian Fr. Figenschow in this production, in which humour and pinch-dark comedy go hand in hand.
We are to get to know Peter Wessel Zapffe - philosopher, writer, environmentalist and mountaineering enthusiast. Zapffe is an important part of Tromsø's cultural history, and his story is as much the town's story. Yet, his name is better known outside of the country's borders.
Zapffe's thoughts about humanity - our lives, his own included - bear the mark of pessimism. But as in everything he got involved in and wrote about, there is a lot of humour in the seriousness. As Lennart Lidström says: 'Humour depends on deep seriousness, and vice versa'.
The monologue Zapffe will have its world premiere during Arctic Arts Festival 2016 and is a collaboration project by The Arctic Theatre and the bank Sparebank1 Nord-Norge."
