The Orchestra
"The Orchestra" by Theater Albatross:
April 15 1945 members of the Women’s Orchestra were freed from the hell of being imprisoned in the concentration camp Bergen-Belsen.
"The Orchestra" is based in the opening of Fania Fénelon’s book "Playing for Time". In it she describes what happened when the prisoners – who had been living dead for what felt like an eternity – discovered that they were free.

Director and actor Robert Jakobsson has made a powerful play about a tragic state of being. Theater Albatross has built the performance through, among other things, conversations with survivors from Auschwitz-Birkenau and members of the Women’s Orchestra at an earlier time. Jewish dance, song and music are important elements in the play, as is an eight minute documentary movie from Theater Albatross’ tours abroad.
