Tales from a Sea Journey
Tales from a Sea Journey by NIE: In November 2009 eight of the NIE ensemble undertook an adventurous Research & Development project which took them halfway across the globe and back again. As part of R&D work eight of our artists took a cargo boat from Le Havre in France to the exotic Island of Guadeloupe in the French West Indies.

In particular Sjón’s ability to juggle genres, fiction and fact, led towards the collaboration about the production Tales from a Sea Journey.
NIE’s treatment of authentic stories often has been described as something that is neither pure reportages nor pure fiction, but something in between, something that puts terms such as memory and truth in play.
Tales from a Sea Journey by NIE developed further through rehearsals across Europe throughout 2010.
Tales from a Sea Journey by NIE was supported by Arts Council Norway, Spenn, Arts Council England and the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs/MFA (travel grant/performing arts).
