Hanko Theatre Festival was arranged for the first time in 1991. At the time it was an internal, informal meeting point for theatre workers. Slowly the festival has grown and it is now the Swedish part of Finland’s main theatre event with approximately 3000 spectators.
Besides Swedish-language Finnish productions the program includes visiting performances from foreign and Finnish-language theatre companies. The festival also arranges workshops and debates.
