Electra

Electra is based on the director Wlodzimierz Staniewski’s studies of the body language in the Greek tragedies. Based on age-old drawings, Wlodzimierz Staniewski found a bodily alphabet he is utilising in Electra.

Through this coded body language the actors express love and pain, joy and desperation, life and death. The performance is produced with an ensemble consisting of experienced actors from Gardzience’s ensemble and of senior year students from Gardzience’s theatre school, where the students are taught partly within the ensemble, partly through their own student projects and partly as taking part in the ensemble, such as in Electra.
