Ghosts

"This is a story about family. Not about love and protection, but about the devastating forces in close relationships. It’s about nature and nurture, guilt and responsibility. Does the family weigh on our choices and our lives, even when we try to free ourselves from it?
History repeats itself. And the theatre repeats the stories. The play’s title is an invitation to examine the phenomenon of recurrence, and that is what director Victoria Meirik wants to do. Why do we repeat the destructive actions that take place in our families? And what happens when money is the glue in our relationships?
Meirik has staged Ghosts in the form of a psychological thriller. Inspired by the narrative techniques of horror films, she gives the audience a peek into the family home – and the characters do not know that they are being observed. The audience become voyeurs and are confronted with the question: Who is it that is killing whom?
Secrets, intrigues and lies are swirled up; shame, disease and unfaithful husbands cast shadows over the next generation. When we recognise the lie, we come closer to the truth. "
