In the performance program of BIT Teatergarasjen Karen Foss writes the following about Duet:
"In which way has a movement meaning? The composition in tonight's performance takes the dancers' improvisational skills into account. There are stretches of time when the dancers have to improvise every night. They work according to specific assignments, for instance relating to the music or to process certain movements. Every night there will be opportunities that only exist this very night. This is a way to approach insecurity, among other things.
In addition we have worked with breaks in time and place versus lasting time, plus with images using the word "glorification". By contrasting the strictness in form and the personal moments something arises that interests me.
Dance and music are almost insolubly attached, as connected to the stage. Still they are independent, each with a character of its own. Dance has a presence one may easier see when the movements are done in silence. Music can give a map of tones, deciding what I perceive from a dance performance.
By switching music every night I force the dancers and my own perception to open for other options than the predictable."
Further she writes that the end has a choreographed dance using the same musical piece for the sake of stability.
