From Black Box teater’s season programme 2025:

"Juanitas takes you on a choreographic journey into contradictions. Here, imagination and reality, the hopeful and dystopic, the caring and risky, the vital and the apathetic are in constant motion, like an unapologetic thought that never settles.

Juanitas is on a mission to re-enchant the world, and wants us to see the work that goes in to making magic. The goal is to awaken people by revealing cracks and connections between reality and fantasy - time is precious. Juanitas invites the unexpected, the random and the sudden into the room with open arms. No performance is the same.

Mariblanca, Berstad and Helgebostad met in 2019 while working with Berstad and Helgebostad’s project KNOW HOWS. It was in this project that Juanita was discovered. In the pandemic Juanita visited elderly homes and a children's hospital and now she is finally visiting Black Box teater!"

Metamodernism often comes up in conversations about the development of today’s art and cultural expression. The term is an attempt to put into words a tendency in art in which sincerity, grand narratives, hope and truth are back on the agenda at the same time as the irony, deconstruction and relativism of postmodernism are still present. How does art respond to a time dominated by crises and dystopias?
