Kurt Racks His Brain
Kurt racks his brain by Grenland Friteater:
The character of Kurt is known to many from Erlend Loe’s books. In Grenland Friteater’s performance about him, Kurt appeared with his forklift in a brand new performance for the whole family, located at Porsgrunn Mekaniske Verksted. The performance was held under the stars and after bedtime.

Kurt has been working at the pier in Porsgrunn, under the yellow crane, for years. But no more boats are coming there, because there is a brand new pier next to it. Kurt (45) and his son Bud (2) are assigned to wash the containers. In one of the containers they find a band of people looking as if they’re from both here and there. They talk weirdly, too. And they dress strange. And pee for a long, long time.
The problems are mounting for Kurt. But falls in love with Fatima, a girl on his own age, and Kurt becomes jealous of Rashid, who is educated at the Royal Truck Driver Academy in Bangladesh and who is more than well-liked by Kurt’s wife Anne-Lise. Then Kurt is fired. The King himself will come to visit. But the one to think that the King will fix things can be disappointed. Because the King is focusing mostly on eating hot dogs and cutting ribbons. But then big things begin to happen . . . real big things.
Grenland Friteater turned 30 years in 2007 and celebrated the occasion by presenting the largest family performance in the history of Telemark. 35 people participated onstage and backstage, two trucks and a historical 40 ton crane was among the ingredients. Grenland Friteater also offered Russian electronic, truck tricks, bucketfuls of Erlend Loe humour, swinging accordions and a colourful bunch of actors hungry to act. During the break, royal hot dogs were for sale.
