Visjoner Teater states the following about Growth of the Soil in its playbill notes:

"In Yngve Sundvor's adaptation and direction of Growth of the Soil Juni Dahr and Gard B. Eidsvold are Isak and Inger in their right element: on the barn. This version of Growth of the Soil emphasises humble values such as modesty, one has to plant the seed before one can harvest and fill the barn. The metaphor also refers to two persons' life spans, their love to one another, making them choose each other over and over again, to invest in each other and to know that nothing grows unless work and time has been invested in it.

Growth of the Soil is theatre made from the ground, historic, intense, near and of current interest. The literature is old and of Nobel Prize quality, modestly processed for the barn floor with specially composed music.

Growth of the Soil is a giant in Norwegian literature. Knut Hamsun received the Nobel Prize in 1920 for the narrative about the pioneer Isak seeking his own land up north, and the hare-lipped woman Inger, coming walking to him over the mountain. Together they create a life, building the farm and the family called Sellanrå.

Growth of the Soil is only presented in barns and the Growth of the Soil tour is dubbed Låvetour. "

The production was performed every summer season from 2006 to 2011 and is still performed in 2019.

Press coverage

Astrid Sletbakk, Frir til publikum, 20.06.2005, VG [Oslo]:
"Growth of the Soil on the barn floor, a stroke of genius"

Elisabeth Rygg, Lettbent låveteater, 01.10.2006, Aftenposten [Oslo]:
"Entertaining, well played barn theatre, beautiful and fun"

Writer and date unknown, Harstad Tidende [Harstad]:
"...a small masterpiece"

Fredrik Rütter, 07.08.2010, Tønsbergs Blad [Tønsberg]:
"The story is told with surprising effects. Dahr and Eidsvold are both very physical, which the expression demands. They suit each other and this is narrative theatre on its best. Sundvor has lifted the sober story to something light and humorous, but he has in an exceptional manner kept the dark undercurrents."
