The Girl, the Mother and the Rubbish by Jegerne Productions was a production about living with a mentally ill parent.
The audience met Ti, who lived with her mother. Her mother had two invisible guardians, Polter and Geist.
A debate with a professional panel was arranged after the productions. Mental illness is illness, just like other illnesses, but it can be harder to understand it. It's not just about thinking or feeling differently. For people suffering from mental illness something has happened to the brain, making it work differently. Useful information particularly directed towards children can be found at the webpage of Morild (www.morild.org).
The Girl, the Mother and the Rubbish by Jegerne Productions was supported by The Norwegian Ministry of Health and Care Services, the interest organisation Mental Helse (literally: Mental Health), the Freedom of Expression Foundation Fritt Ord, The Fund for Performing Artists, The Norwegian Actors' Equity Association/NAEA's fund for freelancers, Seanse - Centre for Art Production at Volda University College, Bodø University College, the culture centre Hunstad Kultursenter (Bodø), Nyebilder.no (http://Nyebilder.no), Nordås Film and Oslo Teatersenter.
The opening took place at the World Mental Health Day 2008.
