More

radiOrakel has produced experimental journalism, innovative comedy and deep-digging audio plays since 1982, always with a queer or quirky angle. The musical profile covers everything from the weirdest punk voices to hard-hitting country.

The first period of time the radio was located in the street of Korsgata 5, but it eventually moved with AKKS (Aksjon Kvinne Kultur Senter, literally: Action Woman Culture Centre) into the attic of the Blitz building in the street of Pilestredet. radiOrakel aims to educate women within radio journalism and sound technique, and at any time it should have a minimum of 2/3 female members. In reality this means that radiOrakel actively prioritises and promotes women as interviewers and interviewees, and in addition it has a musical profile making sure that at least 50 % of the music played is by and with female artists/musicians. As of today approximately 80 persons are attached to the radio station. Throughout the first 27 years of radiOrakel around 1500 people have been educated within the different fields of radio broadcasting, and many of them are today considered media personalities.
