The University of Stavanger
The University of Stavanger has approximately 8500 students and 1200 employees spread over three faculties (The Faculty of Arts and Education, The Faculty of Social Sciences and The Faculty of Science and Technology) plus The Museum of Archaeology.
The University of Stavanger also is attached to the national research and competence centres National Centre for Reading Education and Research AKA The Reading Centre and Centre for Behavioural Research. University of Stavanger owns 50 percent of International Research Institute for Stavanger AS, plus the technology transfer centre Prekubator.
The University of Stavanger was formally established October 29 2004. It was officially opened by King Harald January 17 2005.
