In a shop
In a Shop (2002) is a one-act play by Liv Heløe developed by The Open Theatre (Det Åpne Teater) in correlation to the Pilot Project for Playwrights (2001-2003).
A has left her husband and doesn’t know where to go. On her way down a street her interest is caught by a pair of red shoes in a window display. In the shop stands T thinking she knows her customers inside-out. T looks at A from the door. There is something about A. The next day A is in place behind the counter. But something happens when A is watching the customers and the owner.
The text In a Shop isn’t naturalist, and it focuses on relation and power balance between the shop owner and her recent hire. In the relation established between the two starts a game where they feel each other out. The game is stretched so far the borders between reality and imagination are erased.
