Kokken ("The Chef")
Kokken ("The Chef") was one of the characters in the television series Kometkameratene ("The comet comrades"), which was about nine aliens who are on their way to Earth in a spaceship. Their mission was to find out what people on Earth spend their time doing.
Kometkameratene was created by the Swedish company BLA (Stockholm), in collaboration with NRK’s children’s television division NRK Super. BLA has specialised in puppet theatre for television.
BLA was responsible for the concept, script, direction and for the construction of the puppets. Petter Lennstrand from BLA was responsible for the concept and directed the production, working together with NRK Super.
In total, 48 episodes of Kometkameratene were produced between 2008 and 2011.

Teaterfigur
Teaterfigurer, bedre kjent som teaterdukker, har spilt på norske scener i generasjoner, til stor glede for publikum i alle aldersgrupper.
Six "adult" and three young aliens (Rampejentene; "The rascal girls") were on their way to Earth in a spaceship. In each episode, two aliens were sent to Earth to investigate a human activity. They would explore the activity and communicate with humans before returning to their spaceship in order to discuss their findings with their colleagues, who would try to understand what the two emissaries had experienced.
Kokken was responsible for the food for the crew on board the spaceship - but the dishes he produced were rather odd. One of his meals was "filled tie with rattle mash".
Kokken was performed by Espen Beranek Holm.

Kokken was a very large puppet, even though only the body from the waist up was visible.
The head was pear-shaped, the nose and nostrils were large and the mouth was as wide as the head. The hair, moustache and eyebrows were white, made of a long-haired teddy faux fur. The eyes were placed near the root of the nose. Kokken was mostly blue in colour - the face, neck, forearms and hands with long fingers and sharp nails were all made of a blue fleece material. The body is muscular, and the shoulders were formed like two balls. In addition to a chef’s hat, the puppet wore a white apron to signalise his profession. The figure was made of synthetic materials (stretch material for the shoulders), but the apron was made of white cotton.
Kokken was a comedy figure.
The above description is based on photographs, and assistance from NRK.
Kokken was a muppet with an active mouth. The performer controlled the mouth with one hand, and the other hand controlled the puppet’s left arm and hand. Kokken was large both in height and width, and was heavy to control. The performer would therefore have to be strong.
The above description is based on photographs.
