"We insist on being friendly in the meeting with all that is unknown. We assume that if we are friendly enough, conflicts will be revealed as misunderstandings.
The autumn of 2014, the battle between nationalists and us 'multiculturalists' is harder than ever.
How do we meet hatred, we who don't think that taller walls, more armed police and stronger surveillance make up the answer? We who are 'not directly hurt', and like to withdraw to our own personal (art) sphere when the world does not act the way we want it to. Can we access new tools in the fight against hatred?
For our own part, friendliness has always been a tool we have taken for granted when meeting new communities and people. We are friendly, and we like to think that if we are only friendly enough, what seems to be unsurmountable problems will turn out to be misunderstandings. But hatred kills. Our friendliness is seemingly helpless."
