In Chinindrest take-away by Dood Paard monologues and statements accumulated during rehearsals and memorised by the actors are every night put together in new ways sparking new conversations, discussions and reactions.

Sounds supplied by a DJ serve as a backing for the actors’ words and give them a musical directness. Short and long samples lead the audience down cellars or through pastures, aiming to invoke loathing, lust, a hangover or serenity. Sound fragments tie in with text fragments. Music aspires to connect with emotions and subsequently trigger other emotions causing a discussion to change course.

Chinindrest take-away is a play that deals with the politics of contemporary norms and values. How explicit can a couch potato be in his criticism, stuck in front of a TV?  How do you get people thinking when they clutch their mobile phone and hold their head in the clouds? World events and personal occurrences including economics, politics and democracy are discussed, but there’s also mention of fear, love and food.
