MOTOR eller Kundera-variasjoner (Motor or Kundera Variations) by FaktaMorgana was built on the works Legitim vold? (Legitimate Violence) which had been performed in The Stenersen Museum during the festival Ultima in 2001 and oh thank heaven for.... September 11? which was part of The Annual National Exhibition of the Visual Arts 2002.
The production’s expression can be described as a mix between concert and performance theatre, and among its subjects was how art and reality interact. By mixing fact and fiction the relation between reason and consequence is questioned: For instance, can sabotage or politically motivated damage of material things be understood as violence?
The music for MOTOR eller Kundera-variasjoner (Motor or Kundera Variations) by FaktaMorgana was composed by Bjørn Bolstad Skjelbred and was performed live by the quartet The Pearls before Swine Experience. The Pearls before Swine Experience is known within the contemporary music community for technical brilliance, artistic courage and playful stage charisma. The direction was by Marius Kolbenstvedt.
MOTOR eller Kundera-variasjoner (Motor or Kundera Variations) was supported by Arts Council Norway and The Audio Visual Fund. The production was performed in Black Box Teater as part of the festival Ultima in 2006.

"Through music, conversational inserts and physical acting a series of variations over the subjects of dialogue, communication, relations and immortality are displayed. The question «What are the forces driving you to act?» is often posed and is left as a central issue. The acting is the way we often see it onstage nowadays – the performers are allowed each their style and act near minimalist. (…) Each of their own the elements stand well – not that I will attempt to review Skjelbred’s musical work and the musical play, considering I am no music specialist. The compilation however doesn’t work that well. The dramaturgy is clumsily non-rhythmic and at times unmotivated. More nerve and dramaturgic finesse would have lifted the concert performance several notches."
