In Maji – Vann* (Water) by The Stage Company the stage is split in two – one part with water, one without. Two groups of people gather around each place. Every group of people is concerned with its own. One with playing, consuming and exploring water – the other with finding water – clean water. To begin with they don’t see each other. Eventually they get in touch through humour, song, poetry, movement and music. Will they share the water towards the end?

Maji - Vann aims to be a close, poetic, comical and musical themed production for children – about water. The children in the audience are to become conscious of how important fresh, clean water is and about the unbalance in the way the world’s natural resources are divided out. The aim is to inspire the children to care for and about each other across continents.

The production mixes song and music, jester theatre, acting, dance and a large degree of interaction and audience participation. The languages are used as musical elements and English is the main language, with Norwegian and Swahili as supporting languages.

The production was written, rehearsed and performed 17 times in Kenya during a total of three weeks.
