"In Sogn og Fjordane, we are very familiar with the legend of the Jostedal grouse. The girl survives the black death, the great plague that kills more than half of the Norwegians in the mid 14th century. All alone, she has to manage throughout the winter, and before she is found the next spring, she is as fragile as a wild animal. How does she survive? And from where does she take her courage?
The family musical Jostedalsrypa is inspired by the legend, but it brings us further into a fairytale-like, magical musical world. The heroic girl, the grouse, carries the story on her slim shoulders, and the whole thing is wrapped in melodious pop songs the audience is guaranteed to keep humming when exiting."
