The Enormous Crocodile

Teaterfabrikken 70N 30Ø staged the Roald Dahl story about The Enormous Crocodile.

The Enormous Crocodile is a daring story clashing with the conventions for what is appropriate for children. In the production by Teaterfabrikken the story about the crocodile is performed as physical storytelling theatre.

The 2005 production of The Enormous Crocodile by Teaterfabrikken 70N 30Ø starts like this:

In the biggest and brownest and muddiest river in Africa two crocodiles lay with their heads just above the water. One of the crocodiles was enormous. The other was not so big.

-Do you know what I would like for lunch today, the Enormous Crocodile asked.

-No, the Notsobig One said. What?

The Enormous Crocodile grinned, showing hundreds of sharp white teeth.

-For my lunch today, he said, - I would like a nice juicy little child.

With visible delight Teaterfabrikken tells the story about the bad crocodile and how he bothers the others in the jungle in his search for children to eat. This becomes his demise. K

The Enormous Crocodile had its premiere in 2005, and Teaterfabrikken revived it in a slightly larger format the next year. The production toured Finnmark in 2006. 280 school children watched the production in Bergen in 2006 as part of the program Nystemt, an arena for an audience of children and youth during The Bergen International Festival.
