The subject for The Experiment is the human's strive for recognition and fame. About how far a human being can go in desire to create something new. The foundation was a theory about organs being removed from one person can be connected to the brain of another. By exposing the latter human to stimuli, the organ function will be stimulated.
The Experiment was about a surgeon making attempts to revive human organs removed during operations. He discovered that the organs reacted when he at the same time exposed himself to pain. The surgeon started an experiment to revive a decapitated head. To revive such a large and complicated body part he had to saw off his own head. In his new life as just a head, with no body, the surgeon managed to transfer life to the decapitated head. But when ending the experiment by sewing himself back to his own body, it turned out that the other head had totally different plans for his body.
The humour balanced as in cartoons between innocence and parodic realism.
The Experiment was supported by Arts Council Norway.
