In The Colour of Panic with and by Nicholas Hope the action goes as follows:
Through the course of a phantom heart attack, English-born Australian-raised, multi-migrant Balder tries to trace the events that have led him to a hospital bed in dark, frozen Norway. As his runaway heart is injected with grey dye, he agonises over the nature of home, security, the alien and the familiar.
Scientists say that the chance of two snowflakes being identical is indistinguishable from zero within the expected lifetime of the universe. For Balder, like snowflakes, his distinctiveness is comforting but his loneliness is infinitely terrifying. Stumbling clumsily through a mass of disappointments, Balder is a man in a survival suit protecting himself from all he desires.
