"In Tidens korthet we get to hear the voice of a man who has been silent for 400 years, for this is the story of the seafarer and discoverer Jens Munk, who in 1619 left to find the Northwest Passage. With his 67 men, some aboard the frigate Enhjørningen (literally: The Unicorn), some aboard the sloop Lamprenen (The Lamprey), he aimed to find the shortcut to the East and its riches, on assignment from King Christian IV.
The biography of Jens Munk, written by Torkild Hansen, inspired Lars Saabye Christensen to write the poetry cycle this production is based on.
Trond Peter Stamsø Munch tells the story, or should we say the stories? There is also a personal story in this. The actor's father was named Jens Munch, and the biography of Jens Munk was found in his bookshelf."
