The Master Builder
The Master Builder (2018) is a planned theatre production by Trøndelag Theatre, based on the play by Henrik Ibsen. The production will be performed in the theatre's venue Gamle Scene.

"The builder Solness is a self-taught architect, and through his career, he has become a powerful man in his hometown. But his success has had a cost, borne by his surroundings. At the office, he holds his employees back, and at home, his marriage is a wreck. The builder is, however, certain that his happiness is predestined, and that this justifies his actions.
The Master Builder was written in 1892, opening the last phase of Henrik Ibsen's oeuvre. The play is often read as part of the writer's artistic confession. It is a drama about art and life, about the aging's meeting with youth, and the dream of the unobtainable. The fundamental human relationships are lifted and put forward, when Ibsen depicts a man who has sacrificed his own and others' happiness for the sake of his work. Eventually, happiness is nothing but a castle in the air."
