Nippon is a visual concert based in Japanese aesthetics. The music is written by contemporary Japanese composers who have found inspiration in the sounds of rain, ocean, blood, night, movie music (including the horror movie Alien 3) and tango. The abstract puppetry is inspired by the purity and concentration in the masks of Noh theatre, while the music moves from souls at peace in the Zen gardens of Kyoto to the pulsating city life of Tokyo.
