Gianni Schicchi
Gianni Schicchi (1959) was an opera production by The Norwegian National Opera. Gianni Schicchi (1959) was the Norwegian premiere of the opera in one act by Giacomo Puccini (music) og Giovacchino Forzano (libretto) with the same title. It is the third part of Il Trittico. The production was performed in Folketeateret.
The director was Ivo Cramér.
Gianni Schicchi was performed together with the opera in one act Comedy on the Bridge by Bohuslav Martinu, and the ballet Bendik and Årolilja, choreographed by Ivo Cramér to music by Gunnar Sønstevold.
Gianni Schicchi was premiered again in 1961, together with Ivo Cramér’s ballets Bendik and Årolilja and Bluebeard’s Nightmare, to music by Harald Sæverud. This triple programme was performed as a guest production at Stora Teatern in Gothenburg.
