A Midsummer Night's Dream
A Midsummer Night's Dream (2015) was an opera production by Bergen National Opera and the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra. It was based on the opera by Benjamin Britten, in turn based on the play by William Shakespeare. The production was performed in Griegsalen, the largest venue in Grieghallen.
Robert Carsen staged it.

"With great respect for the great bard, Britten and his partner, Peter Pears, tackled the work of making the play into a text for opera, a libretto. Unlike Verdi, in his operas based on Shakespeare, they quickly decided not to change the original text beyond cutting parts of it. The result became a tight drama in the rich language of Shakespeare, but with a lot of room for music. In Bergen, we use André Bjerke's excellent re-creation as translation."
