Instant Epic by NIE was a project that started its life with an improvisation workshop that NIE did in 2003, over time it turned - very slowly - into a show.
Improvisation and interaction with an audience was a huge part of NIE's work and this show aimed to let the audience into the making process, to offer NIE inspiration and ideas.
NIE started work on it in a more focused way in 2006 when they gave an Instant Epic Scratch performance at the Festival of European Theatre Regions in Hradec Kralove in the Czech Republic. NIE worked with actors from theatre Sgarmush in Switzerland and with Shon and Jill from Hoipolloi in the UK.
Instant Epic continued to develop in 2008 with scratch performances at BAC in London and The Junction in Cambridge.
