In Som En Sang* (Like a Song) by Heidi Tronsmo, Opera Omnia, it turned out that the character in several ways mirrored and not least strengthened certain sides by the I-character one only could find traces of in the music. The electronic sound images reflected the character’s inner life. However, the mirrored image placed these reflections into play and eventually created a dynamic dialogue. At the end, she had to find a way to reconcile with this side of herself. The wrought and after a while extrovert inside normally staying within the skin.
Som En Sang was a development of the chamber play En Som Sang* (Lonesome Song) made for the festival Borealis and the opera series of the Oslo stage Blå. Differing from others more resource-demanding performances in Opera Omnia’s repertoire, Som En Sang was easy to stage and could be adjusted to other concert collaborations.
