We to be
We to be (2015) is a production by Mette Edvardsen, who characterises the project as "a performance that is written as a play".
Mette Edvardsen was responsible for the concept and the performance. She wrote as well as performed the text, and her reading was broadcast directly as radio.
The production was performed at Black Box Teater during Oslo International Theatre Festival 2015. The text was printed and distributed to the audience after the show.
In 2016, Edvardsen received The Norwegian Ibsen Award for the text for We to be.

At the website of Black Box Teater the following, among other things, is written about We to be:
"The text is read out loud by one performer sitting together with the audience, in front of an empty stage. Additionally, We to be is broadcast live on the radio.
Thus, We to be is working in three media presented simultaneously in three places: a performance on stage, a play in a book, and a live radio broadcast.
Choreographer and performer Mette Edvardsen has visited Black Box Teater several times before, most recently during last year's festival with No title. She has worked within international performing arts for several years, and also explores other media, such as video and books. Edvardsen keeps developing new projects, using her own name and in collaboration with other artists."
"Mette Edvardsen's We to be is a meta text that takes advantage of the theatrical situation as its basis for drama. Edvardsen intertwine fiction and reality in a complex and precise dialogue about and with the performance venue, its audience and the theatre as situation. The text can be regarded as an art project examining time and space, more specifically, the theatre of the black box. We to be is local through being anchored in the here and now, but also connects with a global room and an international performing arts contexts in being written in English. The language's very musicality is striking and its choices of words precise. We to be spring out from Edvardsen as an active choreographer and dancer, but the jury finds that the text also contains a large potential for interpretation and realisation beyond her as a performing artist."
